It’s fall, which means a number of fun things: Halloween, harvest season, cozy vibes, and the new school year. If you’re looking for the perfect way to enjoy the fall season this year, here are some fun, interesting activities for every kind of person. Whether you want spooky Halloween experiences or cozy autumn activities, this article has something for you.
1. Distillery District Ghost Tour

The Distillery District in Toronto is a famously haunted place. There have been many ghost sightings, and reports of doors opening on their own, sounds that come from nowhere and all sorts of creepy things. Many people have reported seeing the former Distillery co-owner James Worts, who drowned in a well in 1834. He apparently likes to haunt buildings in the district and spook people.
The Distillery District likes to embrace the spookiness, and they host a ghost tour lead by The Haunted Walk throughout October. You can walk through the stone alleyways and hear about the paranormal encounters and creepy and tragic events in history that took place here, such as the fire of 1869, and the Christmas Eve explosion, when a boiler tank exploded and killed an employee. This man still haunts the building, which is now the Boiler House restaurant. This experience is rated a 3 out of 5 on the spookiness scale by The Haunted Walk. It costs $20 for youth and $30 for adults.
2. The Haunting at Home - A Paranormal Adventure
If you are looking for something accessible, scary, and fun to do with friends, this is a great pick. You don’t even have to leave your house, and it can be done anytime. The Haunting at Home is an audio experience narrated by Jim Dean, The Haunted Walk’s Creative Director and host of the Haunted Talks podcast. You can complete a series of experiments to figure out if your house (or wherever you choose to do this experience) is haunted. Over 71% of groups who tried it reported paranormal activity. The experiments are based on traditional ghost hunting techniques used by parapsychologists. This experiment costs $19 dollars and can be done in person or over Zoom. It is rated a 5 out of 5 on the spookiness scale by Haunted Walks.
3. Apple Picking
If you’re looking for something a bit less spooky and a bit more harvest-y, apple picking is a really fun way to embrace the fall. Apples grow the ripest and best in the fall, which is why apple picking is such an autumn thing to do. There are many places in the GTA with crisp and delicious apples ready to pick. Although it is later in the season of apple picking, many orchards are still running, and combine apple picking with other fun fall activities like hayrides, corn mazes, and pumpkin patches. Some of the best apple orchards include Pine Farms Orchard, and Albion Orchards.
4. Cozy Cafes in Toronto
If you love fall flavors and cozy vibes, these coffee shops are the perfect place to go on a cold day and enjoy a warm cup of coffee or tea or a pastry. These coffee shops all offer fall flavors and a cozy interior. First, we have the Forget Me Not cafe, with locations on Adelaide and Bloor. They have fall specials like the Goguma Maple and Lavender Haze lattes. They serve delicious looking pastries and other drinks as well, and the cute decoration makes this coffee shop very popular for people in the west end. Also, it’s rumored to be Shawn Mendes’s favorite coffee shop and he’s been sighted there many times.
Next, a more local cafe is Snakes and Lattes, which is a well known cafe and board game place. They have locations on College and on Bloor, and it’s a super fun way to spend a rainy day with friends. Snakes and Lattes has delicious cafe food, along with other kinds of snacks, like nachos and mozzarella sticks. They also have shelves and shelves of board games, card games, and rare games that you’ve never seen before. It’s a cheaper option and a lot of fun!
Another great and local option is the FIKA cafe in Kensington Market. It’s a Swedish cafe inside a beautiful house in the market. They have a patio, and super cute decoration, like an entire wall lined with old books. Their signature is a cardamom latte, and they also have other fall specials like their Autumn Spice latte and Swedish desserts.
If you’re less into going out, but still into fall flavors and delicious food, there are tons of fall recipes you can make at home. Here are some great fall options, if you’re not sure what to make.
