Eco Council 2025

Have you ever been interested in taking action to save the environment?
As a Grade 9 student, Eco-Council piqued my interest as it promoted various ways to raise awareness of environmental issues. This could include planning environmentally-friendly activities, drives, initiatives, articles, and designing posters to raise awareness. At the first Eco Council meeting we started brainstorming as a team some ideas for various projects, such as visiting a butterfly conservatory or the zoo, doing a battery drive, volunteering at thrift stores and even collaborating with the Gardening club to grow trees.
At the second Eco Council meeting, we planned to make Eco-Themed Digital Literacy Zines, which are a small paper booklet that stores information. Many ideas were brought up including, but not limited to:
- How to Reduce E-Waste
- Importance of proper e-waste recycling
- What Is a Digital Carbon Footprint?
- Sustainable Tech: What to Buy and Why
- Eco-Friendly Apps and Websites
- Fast Fashion and Online Shopping
- How Social Media Drives Overconsumption
- Green Tech companies
- Anti-ChatGPT
- Chromebooks in school Impacting environment
If you are interested in joining Eco-Council, it is located in room 318 during lunch on Thursdays.
